Gene Wilder isn't singing anymore

Gene Wilder says "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory" is an insult. The original Willy Wonka is not a big Tim Burton fan and don't even get him started on Warner Bros

Gene Wilder isn't singing anymore. At least not Warner Bros.' or Tim Burton's praises. The "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory" star made a rare public appearance in New York Thursday night, speaking to Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne. In the interview, Wilder took some shots at the 2005 remake of his classic film, according to Moviefone.

"I think it's an insult," Wilder, 80, said of Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." "It's probably Warner Bros.' insult." Also read: Tim Burton to Direct Christoph Waltz in Film About Famous Painting Duo

Wilder was not particularly generous to the director personally, saying, "Johnny Depp, I think, is a good actor, but I don't care for that director," Wilder said. "He's a talented man, but I don't care for him doing stuff like he did." (FM)
