South by Southwest in Austin is largely geared toward people in the film and tech industries but there are some free events for the general public on offer.
Austin boasts the highest concentration of music venues in the US and so it makes the perfect host city for this progressive festival. The music component of it attracts bands from across the globe and many of these play unofficial sets open to the public during the daytime.
