Art Basel Hong Kong is divided into six areas – Galleries, Insights, Discoveries, Encounters, Magazines and Film – each displaying a diverse collection of work by both emerging and established artists.
The Encounters section, curated by Alexie Glass-Kantor, executive director of Artspace in Sydney, shows large-scale sculptural installations, with new work by the likes of David Claerbout, Dane Mitchell and Eko Nugroho among the exhibits.
As Glass-Kantor puts it: “Many works alter or revisit our view of the world, representing it not as we ‘know’ it to be, but rather as we innately sense or imagine it to be.”
