Peter Mawanga & the Amaravi Movement

The Lake of Stars celebrated its 10thanniversary in 2013 and it was the biggest international arts festival that Lilongwe had ever seen. Located in six different locations around the city, with the main festival at Sanctuary Lodge, the event attracted more than 2,000 people and featured around 50 acts from all over Africa, as well as Norway, Sweden and the UK. 

This year’s full line-up is still to be decided, but among those confirmed are Skeffa Chimoto and Peter Mawanga & the Amaravi Movement. Founded by Brit Will Jameson, the festival won the Malawi Tourism Award in its first year, and has grown steadily, attracting praise for its promotion of Malawian arts and tourism.
