Canadian: New Voices from the New North

Outstanding works by the Inuit community from the Canadian Arctic regions are on display at this interesting exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada, including sculpture, drawing and video, among other media.

The art is accompanied by commentary from the artists themselves, plus other members of the Inuit community – elders, young people, political and cultural leaders.
The variety of artwork gives an intriguing insight into how Inuit life has changed over the years, and how the Inuit society lives in the present day. Itee Pootoogook, whose intricate Construction Worker in coloured pencil and graphite on wove paper is among the drawings on show, is one of the many talented artists to exhibit.
